English: Activation of integrins is coupled to their conformation. Integrins switch between an inactive bent state with its headgroup pointing towards the cell membrane. During activation, integrins extend at their 'knee' region and both subgroups separate at the transmembrane region. Intracellular and extracellular adapters, like talin or fibrinogen as shown here, facilitate this process.
Deutsch: Die Aktivierung von Integrinen ist an ihre Konformation gekoppelt. Integrine wechseln zwischen einer inaktiven "bent" Konformation, bei der die Kopfregion zur Zellmembran zeigt. Im Verlauf der Aktivierung richten sich Integrine an ihrer Knieregion auf und beide Untereinheiten trennen sich im Transmembranbereich. Intrazelluläre und extrazelluläre Adapter, wie Talin und Fibrinogen in diesem Fall, unterstützen diesen Prozess. |
